Firefighters serve a sacred duty to protect life and property in their communities. But they also must serve a higher duty to themselves and their families – and keep themselves healthy and safe – to make sure that everyone goes home.
In 2004, the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation created the “Courage to Be Safe” campaign to help make safety a priority. The campaign included the development of the 16 Firefighter Life Safety Initiatives. Fire marshals all around the country called upon firefighters to learn the initiatives and live them – in training and at every incident.
At Hale, we are proud to say that we take these initiatives very seriously. In cooperation with the National Fallen Firefighters Foundation, Hale is sponsoring the “Safe Firefighter of the Month” recognition program. This program will help fire companies stay focused on the importance of the 16 Life Safety Initiatives and honor those individuals who lead their peers in a commitment to safety.
